Five Quarts Bonded Scotch Whisky Seized in Waterloo Hotel

Detectives Crumline and Davis and Federal Agent Baldwin seized five quarts of bonded Scotch whisky labeled 152 years old from rooms 404 and 406 at the Russell Lamson hotel. Chicago promoter Jack Gaul, Cedar Falls residents Br. J. Lechner and G. H. McEirey were arrested. Gaul claimed alias Gowtan. Bonds set at $300 for Gaul. Lechner and McEirey held on illegal liquor charges. arrests followed a tip after a man boasted of more stock in the hotel.

Traer Man Flies Homeward to Visit Foster Parents

Lieut. Max Balfour, flying a Detavi land plane with an 800 horsepower motor, plans a return flight from Mitchel Field to Traer Iowa to visit foster parents William and Mrs Balfour. The veteran, educated at Northwestern and served in France, describes aviation conditions and notes America has top pilots and strong ships. He remained in France after the Armistice, later returning to the United States in 1924 to Mitchel Field.
