Court Provides Meal and Bed for Swenson in Jail

Leonard Swenson was arrested on a disorderly conduct and vagrancy charge after asking for a meal and a warm place to sleep. Judge J W Gwynne ordered the county jail to provide Swanson a bed and three meals daily for 35 days.

New Jury Drawn in District Court Proceedings

A petty jury for district court was drawn today under Judge G W Wood to serve the September term and for special duty on January 4 when state cases begin. Trials include Trebon on murder attempt, Sweeney on second degree murder, Troyer on third offense liquor, Gruver liquor nuisance, Hundley third offense liquor, Saunders liquor nuisance, with Trebon's mental condition to be medically tested. The panel lists residents from Waterloo Cedar Falls Hawk Poyner Cedar and surrounding townships.

City Jail Holds Higgins on Larceny Charge

Mrs Hoppes 10-Year Waterloo Resident Dies

Mrs. Helii Hoppes a 50 year resident of Waterloo died after a six day illness of pneumonia at a local hospital. She was active in Salvation Army work and a German Lutheran Church member. Chronic speeder loses license in Sioux City case

Sioux City, Ta. Dec 22. George Schietzelt 21 is the first man in Sioux City to have his automobile license revoked for chronic speeding. The action followed a third speeding conviction and was taken by the state automobile department on the recommendation of Police Judge J. F. Hays.

Drunk Army Seizes Bay Rum Bottles in Des Moines

In Des Moines on December 22 a total of 110 bottles of bay rum alleged to contain no alcohol were seized by probation officers at the Kresge and Woolworth stores after reports of intoxicated patrons. Fourteen of 18 intoxicated individuals at the police station were said to be under the influence.
