Death in taxi ends McNichol trunk case figure’s crime spree
Edward F. Keller, once pardoned after a long slaying sentence, died in a taxi while fleeing a bank robbery in Philadelphia. He carried more than 50,000 dollars in banknotes, checks, and gold from the Corn Exchange National Bank, with police and a protective agency tracing the trail to Broad and Wallace streets. The theft remains partly unexplained as investigators note missing funds and Keller’s suspected double cross of an accomplice in the 1920s mystery.
