Three Claimants Seek Compensation for Dead Worker
Testimony before Deputy State Industrial Commissioner Ralph Young reveals Kenneth Whitson, killed by an elevator at Bovee Furnace Works on December 9, 1924, left three claimants: two former wives and Whitson’s children. Witnesses describe rapid, disputed divorces and marriages to the same man within hours, raising questions of legality for the $2,000 to $4,000 compensation. The insurer, Fidelity Casualty, awaits the commissioner's ruling on who may receive payment.
