Thomas M Watts Dies At Age 86 In Waterloo
Thomas M Watts, longtime Waterloo manufacturer and business figure, died at 7 43 am at his home 27 Jefferson street after a three week illness of age related ailments. He was 86. Funeral services will be from First M E Church at 2 20 pm Friday conducted by Dr Rory Hurlburt with a prayer service at the house. Burial will be Elmwood cemetery. Watts joined the Masonic lodge early in Waterloo and traced a hard pioneer life from England to Iowa with a log cabin build in six days. He married Emma Thrower in 1867 and helped run cooperage and mill businesses before settling in Waterloo operations. He retired in 1898 and had lived at Seventh and Jefferson streets for 45 years. He attended First M E Church.
