Erection of Professor Story occurred Tuesday night in the Allied Dry forces mass meeting. Editor R C Rivers Passes Monday End Brought To
Robert Campbell Rivers 71 longtime publisher of the Watauga Democrat and Boone civic figure died at an Esville hospital after an illness. Services were at Boone Methodist Church with multiple pastors officiating. The cortege included family, officials paused business, and Judge Wilson Warlick adjourned court in his honor. Rivers, born December 26 1861 in Fish Springs Tennessee, built a career from laborer to printer and editor shaping Watauga politics and charity. He leaves a daughter Velma McGhee two sons Jim and Rob Rivers two sisters and four grandchildren.

Mrs Carnie Critcher 30 of Boone Route 1 died at Davis Hospital Statesville after an appendicitis operation. Funeral at Mount Vernon Baptist Church conducted by Rev R C Eggers with burial in the Critcher family cemetery. Survived by husband five children parents three sisters and numerous friends. She moved from Cove Creek to Boone six years ago and was a devoted Boone Baptist Church member.

Irvin Thurston and George Lane of Bristol Tennessee were jailed on charges of possession transportation and public drunkenness after their wrecked Ford near Ruthwood. Sheriff A Y Howell arrested them early Wednesday. thirty gallons of liquor were found near the scene. They await Recorder's Court Tuesday with bonds set at five hundred dollars. Sheriff Howell reports six drunkenness arrests this week.
