Beech Creek Man Robbed of Fifty Dollars by Strangers
Grant Trivett of Beech Creek Watauga was held up and robbed of more than fifty dollars as three unknown men visited his home on Sunday. While eating, one suspect sought a loan, then guns were drawn and cash taken from his pockets. Two suspects were later arrested in Johnson County and jailed at Mountain City, with extradition planned to North Carolina authorities for similar charges.

Officer Norris Captures Two Escaped Convicts
State prison camp officers from Lansing Ashe County captured two escaped convicts in Boone after tracking them with bloodhounds. The men had been jailed Sunday by Deputy Sheriff Clint Norris and were found near Perkinsville after resisting arrest. One convict served seven years for driving drunk and causing a fatality. the other three years for larceny.

Powell Suffers Hip Fracture In Fall At Hickory Game
Joe Powell a member of the Watauga Drug Company was injured when he fell against a grandstand at a Hickory football game last Friday evening. An initial report said the injury was not serious but X rays showed a fractured hip. Powell was taken to his mother’s home in Statesville to recover before returning to work at the local pharmacy.
