On Saturday October 21 Appalachian State Teachers College will host Homecoming with a 10 a.m. start led by Andrew H. Casey and a day packed with speeches, three minute talks, a noon plate lunch, football games against Piedmont College and Lees-McRae College, and an 8 p.m. voice recital. The event recalls the college’s growth and features an outstanding gridiron battle with Piedmont College.

The Cove Creek High School Home Economics Club reports second year girls sewing woolen dresses and first year girls nearing completion of their aprons. They toured Boone visiting a kraut factory Woodcraft Novelty Company and other businesses and attended chapel at the college. The Friday program featured songs Bible story Columbus history Columbus Day exercises and a fashion style showcase with jokes by Cora Lee Tester.

The National Recovery Administration directs 650000 pounds of pork to be distributed by North Carolina under Mrs. Thomas O Berry's relief office. Sheriff Madron Injured In Coal Truck Collision

E. W. Thompson Dies Sudden in Knoxville
Edward William Thompson 51, longtime Watauga County resident and electrical engineer, died suddenly in Knoxville on August 28. A Blowing Rock booster, he financed and built a power plant near Shulls Mills, wiring Blowing Rock and nearby communities. His work included Cuba sugar mill construction. he held degrees from Tulane and Nashville and was an active ASME member.

Violet Adams Denied Bail in Police Officer Slaying
