Hon George M Pritchard congressman from the Ninth District and Republican candidate for the United States Senate will address the courthouse crowd in Watauga on Tuesday October 21 at 1 pm. The North Carolina Republican leader is described as a forceful campaigner and outstanding orator. The local committee earned the appearance.
The semi annual county singing was held at the Boone courthouse on Sunday and officials say it was the most widely attended event yet. Large crowds from all parts of the county and neighboring areas enjoyed performances by local and visiting classes with strong approval.

A Northern Pacific Railway bulletin from Saint Paul designates F. G. Moody as Master Car Builder succeeding H. M. Robertson who retired after over forty years with the company. Moody, born in this county, rose from humble beginnings to a long career with the railroad, with his promotion occurring exactly 24 years after his first payroll entry. He will relocate his residence from Tacoma to assume new duties in Saint Paul car shops.
W. Ralph Winkler of Central Tire Company in Goodyear dealers in Watauga returned from Akron Ohio after joining hundreds of Goodyear dealers for a three day tour. The group toured Goodyear Hall the airship dock Wingfoot Lake and Goodyear factories learning about tire and tube production and viewing the Akron airship under construction set for trial in 1931.
John McStats of Brandt sen & Kluge Company Atlanta branch installed a new Kluge feeder on a press at The Democrat office. Visitors praise the mechanical perfection and the improved accuracy and service now possible. The U S Post Office uses asbestos mail bags in the Air Mail Service to prevent fire loss.
