Muse, Morley fight leaves Muse badly injured in Mountain City
Joe C. Muse head of Muse Hardware Company in Mountain City Tennessee is seriously wounded after a Friday afternoon knife attack by L B Morley a former prohibition officer and sheriff candidate. The altercation over a church property transfer occurred in front of Johnson County Motor Company. Morley was arrested and is jailed on a 3500 bond. Muse is hospitalized in Bristol but improving.

Mrs Sue Osborne Dies Suddenly at Daughter's Home
Mrs. Sue Osborne, 76, died Tuesday evening at her daughter Mrs. Gurney Brinkley’s Brushy Fork home after a broken hip worsened into a fatal heart attack. She was a native of near Sparta, Alleghany County, but lived here about two years. Funeral services will be held near the old home in Alleghany County.

Democratic Convention Called to Meet on June 11
J L Wilson chairman watauga County Democratic Executive Committee issued the call for the county convention to be held June 11 at 2 p m. A chairman will be elected and delegates named to the State Convention at Raleigh June 16. Precinct meetings Saturday June 4 in township centers will name delegates. Watauga County has 22 delegates to the State Convention.

John Jenkins of Ashe County was convicted in federal court at Wilkesboro for fraudulent use of the mails in a Sears Roebuck scheme tied to merchandise from the Eller McNeil Store at Rutherwood. Sentencing was deferred pending potential transfer for a murder charge related to Joe Graybeal’s shooting.

Mr. D. R. Wilson of Zionville visited town Monday with ore from a strange rock formation on his farm. The specimens show graphite and other minerals and assays are under way to assess value. Civitan campaign to curb Wharf Rat Horde in Boone
A Boone Civitan Club committee plans an anti rat campaign targeting invasive wharf rats. A. E. Oman of the U S Department of Agriculture and State College will visit Boone around June to supervise rat bait efforts, funded by local civic groups at about 25 dollars for Boone and Perkinsville. Bait will be sold at cost to farmers via the courthouse on June 38.

Over Five Thousand Vaccinated in County
Vaccination clinics in Watauga County reach the third week with more than five thousand people receiving typhoid and diphtheria serum. In Boone city Dr. Hagaman and nurses Krider and Fisher have given doses to 2317 residents. The last countywide vaccination was three years ago, and in 1930 no typhoid cases were reported. In 1931 five cases occurred in one community but no deaths.

Mrs. M. C. Miller Dies at 83 in Meat Camp
Mrs. M. C. Miller aged 83 died at her Meat Camp home after months of illness. Funeral services were planned for Hopewell M E Church South with Rev Brendall or Todd circuit pastor assisting Rev N M Dobbin. Survived by three sons W S Miller Marvin Clyde and two daughters Mrs H A Dobbin and Mrs L E Hopkins. She lived all her life in Watauga County and was sister to the late E Spencer Blackburn and Manley B Blackburn.
