Boone School Board Plans High School and Consolidations
The Boone district board met in session to plan a new high school building separate from the Normal. A May budget will be drafted May 18 with tentative construction plans. They will consolidate Meat Camp Green Valley Chestnut Grove and Tugman schools near the Meat Camp Baptist church and explore Riverview rebuilding after a fire. A bus service will bring pupils to Boone High School and Foscoe will raise its standard to include high school subjects.

Beech Creek man jailed forger charge in Watauga county
Clarence Cannon of Beech Creek is held in Watauga jail in default of a 2000 dollar bond. Deputy Sheriff Hagaman arrested him at his home yesterday morning on a charge tied to check raising. Cannon was to face Superior court for complicity with Dewey Harmon, who serves a prison term for Valle Crucis Bank robbery. Cannon had fled a previous 1000 dollar bond.

Happy Valley residents plan district to protect game preserve
Land owners in Happy Valley Caldwell county organize to form a protective game preserve from the highway to Beach Ford. Last week 50 pairs of Mexican quail were released at a cost of 250 dollars.
