Wise leadership lifts Steuben County to prosperity in Indiana
Amos Baker’s dairy expansion plan and the Inter-State Cattle Loan Company transformed Steuben County. Dairy cows rose from 3,000 to 12,000, delinquency vanished, loans reached nearly 300,000, and hundreds of boys returned from cities to farm, boosting Angola and surrounding townships with new barns, silos, and modern farms.
