Mrs Floyd Yoder Dies at Winston Hospital
Mrs Floyd Yoder aged 39 died at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem after weeks of illness. The body was moved to Hickory North Carolina for funeral and burial Tuesday afternoon. Survived by husband and four children. Native of Catawba County she and family lived on the old Hamby place Boone Route 1 for two years.

Noted educator C. C. Wright dies after long Wilkes tenure
Professor C. C. Wright, longtime Wilkes County superintendent of schools, died Friday night in a North Wilkesboro hospital after a sudden illness. He served 34 years as superintendent, retired 23 days earlier, and planned to write a history of Wilkes education. He is survived by his widow Jennie Land and four sons including J. T. Wright of Boone. Funeral at Edgewood Baptist Church followed by burial.

District Redistricting Sets County School Centers
The Board of Education approved county redistricting under the new school machinery act, consolidating forty-nine districts into six with high schools at centers. Tragic Bus Crash Kills AS T C Student on Chicago Tour
A tour of sixty Appalachian State Teachers College student teachers and Boone residents ended in tragedy near Crabtree Tennessee when a bus overturned on a wet curve. Miss Nola Brotherton of Denver died en route to Elizabethton, O E Billinger of Newton suffered severe injuries, four others had minor injuries, and the group continued the journey to Chicago after the wreck.

Sheriff Reports Capture of Five Distilleries This Month
Sheriff A Y Howell and deputies report the seizure of three stills and five blockaded distilleries over the past two weeks. Each operation was small but longstanding, with large quantities of beer destroyed. Captures occurred on Stony Fork Beech Mountain and New River, bringing total seizures to twenty three since January 1.

Alabama and Arkansas, first two Southern states to repeal, cast wet votes Tuesday joining sixteen others in sanctioning repeal of the eighteenth amendment. In Arkansas early returns favor repeal by about 20,000. Alabama shows roughly two to one for wets. Tennessee and Oregon vote Thursday and Friday, respectively.
