Funeral Services For Mrs Jesse Coffey At Cool Springs
Funeral services were held last Wednesday at Cool Springs Baptist Church near Blowing Rock for Mrs. Jesse Coffey of Globe Caldwell County who died after a lengthy illness. She was 80 and a daughter of the late Calvin Coffey. Survivors include her husband and several sons and daughters. Mr and Mrs Smith Hagaman attend a state wide welfare officials meeting in Chapel Hill.

Former Watauga Lady Dies In Missouri Self Inflicted Wound
Belle Woodring Dolby a 54 year old native of Watauga County died at her Springfield Missouri home from a self inflicted pistol wound. A letter to L A Greene says her son found the locked house and a revolver near her heart with a gas jet open. She had mourned her husband’s death five years earlier and had not visited Watauga in 35 years.

Ford Agency Changes Hands in Watauga
Smith Motor Sales Inc of Linor has taken over the Watauga Ford agency and will open sales rooms Saturday the 15th in the former Watauga Motor Company building. H H Hoover will run the local agency with a full Ford lineup including V eight trucks. Factory trained mechanics will staff the service department and a Detroit trip prize will be awarded for the best Ford mileage record.

Rare spirits raid yields fines and seizures in Blowing Rock
Al Denis of Charlotte was fined 150 dollars and 45 dollars costs after a judge suspended a six month sentence for transporting and possessing spirituous liquor. Authorities recovered 33 quarts 38 pints of whiskies, 11 quarts of gin, with a portion stolen from the Calaboose. Roy Bumgarner, Don Dotson, Calvin Ragan, and Lillie Atwood faced jail terms or payments for related offenses.

Mrs. Blaine Coffey, 45, died suddenly at her Boone's Fork home in Watauga County last Thursday morning after a severe headache. Funeral services were held Friday at the home by Rev. S. E. Gragg, with interment in Boone's Fork Cemetery. She was formerly Miss Haley Harris of Hudson, Caldwell County, and leaves husband Murry Coffey, son Hardin, son Murry, and daughter Gwendolyn.

Gas tank explosions fueled the blaze, with blue flames and windows shattering as crews battled the fire. Rev. R. H. Stone of West Jefferson and Mr. S. D. Gordon of Winston-Salem visited Boone Wednesday morning.
