Former Resident Boone Feted on 100th Birthday
Hickory North Carolina December 1 1932 Mrs Alice M Councill honored on her hundredth birthday with radio cheers flowers telegrams and visits from relatives and state figures She is the oldest resident in the area and retains full faculties. Her son Judge W B Councill and three living children were present along with friends and Rotary Club members.

Rubber Hoover Dam Scale Model At Colorado University
A rubber scale model of the Hoover Dam is displayed in Colorado University's engineering labs to test static water pressure on the dam’s canyon wall and upstream face. The model, on a one inch to 15 feet scale and about four feet high when completed, uses 42 000 pounds of rubber slabs and simulates weight and resistance similar to the concrete dam.
