The plant will serve heating and power needs, located on a lower level to reduce extra equipment costs, fitting school aims. A farm woman notes running water as the best Christmas gift for the farmhouse.
The Blowing Rock school board and county commissioners failed to agree on financing the completion of the consolidated school building. The county offered to end the Banner loan fund by 3800 dollars and share half the remaining costs, while the local board urged the county to bear half the expense until a state loan could be obtained. Mr. O. O. Hewlett of Raleigh has been in Boone for days overseeing a new bookkeeping system at the county courthouse. The plan lets the county auditor check department conditions anytime, reducing audits. an accountant will audit periodically. Hewlett remains until the system runs smoothly, sent by the Raleigh advisory commission at no expense to the county.
J B Taylor of Taylor Motor Co and local Ford dealers traveled to Charlotte to inspect the new Ford model. He said a demonstration model will likely arrive early next week and hopes to secure several units before year end. Ford plans production of the Lizzie at a thousand units daily starting January, with detailed features explained at the local agency and orders placed.
