Thanksgiving Day Observed in Boone with Generous Donations
Boone observed Thanksgiving with church services at 10 a.m. and in the Baptist evening service. Banks closed for the day as the community raised funds totaling 256 dollars for the Thomasville orphanage, including a 100 dollar pledge from an anonymous donor and 5 dollars to the Grandfather orphanage. The editor collected 85.25 dollars for the mountain orphanage, all contributions given voluntarily. A nearby town resident praised Boone’s generosity.

Friday Afternoon Club Enjoys Thanksgiving Themed Program

Prof I G Greer of Boone impressed about fifty school committeemen and citizens in the Ashe county courthouse with a three part address on the duties of committeemen and ways to democraticize the school system. Laurel Creek Church Sends Mountain Produce to Thomasville Orphanage
Early last week Laurel Creek Baptist Church and Sunday School collected a truck load of apples potatoes cabbage and other mountain products as a Thanksgiving offering to the inmates of the Thomasville orphanage. The load valued at 65 dollars was hauled farther than any previous delivery to the institution.
