Mrs. Sarah Greene age 77 died at her Stony Fork home after several weeks illness. Funeral services were held at Laurel Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Harrison Winkler. burial at church cemetery. Survived by six children, three brothers, five sisters, twenty seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Born in Watauga County September 29 1876. married W L Greene February 28 1878. ten children, four predeceased. She joined Stony Fork then Mountain View churches and remained active in faith.

State Junior Order Council Meets in Hickory

Irish potatoes are being marketed in large quantities with Smithey's Store leading the trade. On Saturday the dealer moved about 85 000 pounds or 1400 bushels at prices from one dollar per bushel for number ones to 40 cents for twos, a doubling from last year. Most farmers hold back the bulk of their crop expecting higher prices.
