John Smith Miller Succumbs in Meat Camp Community
John Smith Miller aged 61 a longtime Meat Camp resident died at his home last Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services and interment were Sunday afternoon. He was a native Wataugan son of the late Henry Miller and is survived by his widow and three daughters Mrs Ed Brown of Boone Mrs Walter Winebarger and Mrs Henry Miller both of Meat Camp.

Spencer Moretz age 44 died at his home on lower Meat Camp Friday the 28th after years of illness. Rev. A. E. Moretz conducted the funeral Saturday at 2 PM and Norris Cemetery burial followed. Survivors include his mother and siblings. he was known as an excellent citizen. his death caused widespread sorrow in the community.

The daily range averaged 21 with the greatest 36 on the 18th. Peak 86 on the 23rd and low 40 on the 5th. Total precipitation 11.18 inches, with 3.03 inches in 24 hours on the 3rd. Eleven days had measurable rain, twelve were clear, four partly cloudy and fifteen cloudy. Fogs on the 3rd frosts on the 5th with thunderstorms on the 3rd 11th and 5th. Solar halos on the 24th and rainbows on the 27th.
