Miss Esther Exum Ransom daughter of the late Senator Matt W. Ransom died suddenly at her brother Col. Robert Ransom's suburban Hickory home at 1 a.m. cause was organic heart disease she had valvular heart disease prior. She was active during the 1917 18 influenza epidemic and helped the poor. Survived by four brothers J E P E Ransom Northampton Geo E Ransom Halifax and Robert Ransom and a sister in law Mrs M W Ransom of Littleton.

Four Men Arrested in Major Southern Counterfeit Ring
United States officers and Sheriff John Hardwood raided the home of Tom Davis on New Hope Valley road near Durham and seized a printing outfit for U S bank notes. Suspects include W T Davis alias Sam Davis J R Davis J J Davis and Thomas Davis all held on heavy bonds. A small press ink plates and paper were recovered along with a trunked set of equipment shipped from Chicago. Charles Davis was arrested in Chicago linking the group to North Carolina. Preliminary hearing set for April 30 before Commissioner R C Cox.
