Enid Oklahoma reports more than 100000 acres signed up through the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association since the 1922 harvest. Over 710000 acres and 6700 farmers are members pooling wheat for 1923 1924 and 1925. Two Orphans Travelled Solo to Johnston City
James Hale aged 13 and Leon Hale aged 11, orphans from Rankin Tennessee, traveled a week by rail and foot to Johnston City seeking their aunt in Lynchburg. Police Brighton helped them home with clothing and nearly 28 dollars in donations. Their father, deputy sheriff Murphy Hale, died in Hickory North Carolina five months ago.
