A burglar broke into Goodmans restaurant near Bruceville Knox County between 10 and noon Sunday and fled after stealing $25 a watch a razor and a fountain pen. Deputies traced a description to several towns but no arrest was made. The suspect crossed the ferry into Daviess County prompting a countywide search and police pursuit.

A boy named Helton was arrested near West End around 3 PM for cruelty to animals or fast driving after he allegedly lied to Morpin livery barn. He had left the premises promising to return in an hour and was still driving the animal at the time of arrest. Mrs. A Tammaring attended the funeral of Mrs. Madaline Fasciano of Evansville.
In Cassville Missouri on May 7 a sixteen year old girl, Olive Beeson, was seriously injured when large hall stones fell during a storm while she was in her yard unable to reach shelter. The incident occurred at her home and the stones struck her on the head.
Governor Hanly announced numerous appointments including George W. Parte to labor commissioner, with Republicans and Democrats named to Tuberculosis Commission and state boards. New members extend to Northern Prison, Eastern Indiana Hospital for the Infants, Feeble Minded Institute, School for the Blind, and Southern Hospital for the Insane. Monuments for Civil War sites were also noted.
The funeral for the late John Himburg was held at 10 o clock this morning at his brother William Himburg’s east Walnut home. Father Francis Torbeck of the German Catholic church officiated. A large turnout included the widow’s mother and sister from Fostoria and W C McStoops of Petersburg, his former employer. Pallbearers were McStoops, Paris A Hastings, Tell Golbert, Leigh Sanford, George D Colbert and John F Raymann. The interment followed at St John’s cemetery. the casket bore floral offerings including a ring from the local printers union.
Chicago May 7 Blon rs Arnold head of the Traction Board of Supervising Engineers suffers a peculi ar accident while repairing his brother's car. The engine kicked back catching his tongue between his teeth and severing it. He was rushed to Mercy Hospital where doctors reattached the tongue. He will not speak for several weeks.
A 20 year old man, dubbed Jack the Peeper, was captured by officers Monday after attempting to peep into a home on East Walnut Street near Fourteenth. The resident alerted Howard Stewart, who pursued the suspect armed with a .44. The youth gave conflicting statements and was taken into custody pending judgement.
