Four special B and O trains moved through Washington today ferrying Boy Scouts from western cities to the national Scout Jamboree in the capital. Officials said the cars carried seven and eight beds each, all from western communities. Two more specials are expected Saturday with several more through Monday.
Firefighters were summoned at 10 15 am to the R V Walters home at 718 South West First Street where defective wiring started a fire in the basement. No major damage occurred as crews quickly extinguished the blaze. Mrs Walters suffered burns on her hands while trying to pull down the wiring in the basement.
Dale Harris son of Mr and Mrs Fred Harris left today to accept a position with the Goodrich Co in Akron Ohio He graduated from Purdue University this year in chemical engineering and begins work soon
Miss Helen Shake of 1206 Downey Rivers was admitted to the hospital Monday for treatment and underwent mastoid trouble surgery Wednesday. Her condition is reported as serious. Shake is a Junior 4-H leader of Washington.
More than 530 Texaco dealers and commercial customers from Martin and Daviess counties attended a sales meeting at St. Mary's. A sales promotion talk and a film were highlights of the evening gathering.
