Wisie Denem, farmer near Hyatt Station on RR 4, reported to Sheriff M H FitzGerald that his dog, kept penned for days, was killed yesterday after being pronounced rabid. Denem did not believe the dog could have bitten others but warned nearby residents to watch other dogs for a period.
Funeral services for John Fridrich were held yesterday at 9 o'clock at St. Simon's church with interment in St. John's cemetery. Pallbearers included Neal O'Kane Howard Chew Bill Yeager Pat eta William Larrick and Wil.
Funeral services for Ada K. Schuck were held this morning at 9:30 at the residence on West Van Trees Street with J. Edw. Murr officiating. Pallbearers were Elks members including Earle and George A, among others.
A Bloomington man, previously with Smith Electric Co and a Frigidaire and Maytag dealer, is employed at the local Prigic n tag business.
A meeting of five locals chosen to attend the Hoosier Boys trip will be held tonight at seven at the house. A list of necessary articles will be given to the boys at that time. The group is to depart Saturday for the trip.
Rev J Edward Murr spoke to Rotary Club members at the Meredith hotel at noon. He used horses as a subject and described war strains of runners pacers trotters and saddle horses. Clyde Parker the city schools superintendent was welcomed as a new member by Rev William R Seat.
Indianapolis June 24. Settlement of a maintenance of way strike on the Big Four railroad in Terre Haute area announced by the state labor division. The Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes CIO affiliate reportedly won: workers to be hired from that union and 200 black strike breakers dismissed.
National and American League box scores show St Louis, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia and Detroit players listed with innings by hits and errors. Scoring lines include mixed-inning totals and final tallies, naming pitchers and batters such as Hogsett Hadley Auker Grove French Frankhouse Weiland Fette Swift Johnson Derringer and others.
A Washington meeting of the B and L group ran from 4 to 6 o clock. Attendees included Harmor, W. E. Baldridge, F. Burtless, F. Ogien, Mrs. Millie Waller, and W. Allen as chairman. Postmasters will cease issuing social security account number cards at the close of business June 30. Beginning July 1 designated Social Security Board field offices in Evansville Indianapolis and South Bend will take over processing. Local postmasters will keep forms 584 and 585 and assist employees in proper completion while other services shift to field offices.

Shoals Ind June 24 James Marshall former auditor of Martinic and Martin county chair of the Democratic central committee has been appointed to the Indiana Coal Commission Board. He will serve as a supervisory assistant under Ollie A. Davis Indiana director for the federal commission. Davis says Marshall will be his chief clerk and the appointment places him in a federal role based in Indianapolis.
Reorganization of the Daviess County Democratic Club elected officers for the coming year and planned what organizers call the biggest Democratic rally ever in Daviess County. President W. Brett Cabel and vice presidents Arlen Lee were named with Secretary William Yeager Treasurer Ralph Burris.
Mrs. Thelma Smail of Wheatland underwent four minor operations today. Prentice Feaster of Plainville submitted to a minor operation. Frank O Neill, 400 feet, daughter oe cece.
One man was arrested in Martin County for alleged theft of three coal cars and siphon hose worth about 50 dollars from a mine owned by Tim Shaw and Stone, three miles south of Shoals. Calvin Neukam, 21, of Dubow County, charged. police recovered one car in Rutherford township. Neukam admitted taking a coal car but said it was by mistake. no other arrests.
