Little Man Kills Giant In Brooklyn Duel

A six foot tall man with an .88 caliber revolver tries to fire three shots at a shorter opponent. a single .32 caliber pistol bullet kills the big man. Antonio Camardo, a longshoreman of 149 Columbia Street, dies on Harrison Street near Henry Street. Police pursue a diminutive man described as the killer, seen with Camardo near the waterfront hours before the duel. The scene drew a crowd as four firecracker-like shots preceded the fatal exchange.

In New York a distressed wife Hannah Gretchel left a dying husband and two children to run away with her brother in law. She told Judge Manning she no longer cared for him and loved her new partner. Mystery Death of Reynolds in Chicago Air Shaft

William F Reynolds of Lexington Texas died early today in an air shaft on the sixth floor of the Grace Hotel in Chicago. Sheriff Scarborough feared a plot against witnesses in a case involving Patrick Lavine and Charles Coleman, with guards sent to protect the party. Reynolds had begged not to sleep alone and may have fallen from a window as the group faced a suspected conspiracy en route from Kansas City to Chicago.

The will of Robert B Roosevelt uncle of President Roosevelt, who died at Sayville Long Island last week, was filed for probate. Special term set to try sugar rebate cases and tobacco trust indictments

New York reports a special term of the criminal branch of the U S Circuit Court will hear the sugar rebate cases and indictments against the presidents and subsidiaries of the tobacco trust for alleged Sherman anti trust violations. Judge Hult set the term in the U S District Court and adjourned to June 2.

Confessed $100000 Larceny Preyed and Prison Term

New York June 19 two prisoners were sentenced for theft and fraud. Henry Hirschman of Hirschman Brothers pleaded guilty to grand larceny involving about $100,000 in goods bought on credit and sold for cash. He received a six year term. John Clark, 45, with prior Sing Sing sentences, stole 25 cents and was sent to prison. Creditors sought suspension of sentence for partial payments.

Woman Fights Burglars in Post Office Safe Breakin

Mrs. Bigelow of Hampton Junction awoke to an explosion and fired from windows with her husband and revolver as eight burglars fled the general store and post office. The home was targeted but no family member was harmed though bullets peppered the building. Police hunt the suspects who escaped in darkness after seizing money and stamps from the safe.
