Suit Against Waggaman Ordered to Make Accounting

Justice Anderson ordered Thomas E. Waggaman to disclose within ten days the amount of funds received as trustee in the Hine versus Hine case. Arraigned as a Monopoly Proposes Osage Oil Lease Cut

Secretary Hitchcock released a statement denouncing the Osage oil lease as a gigantic monopoly. He describes it as a public scandal issued by Secretary Hoke Smith in 1886 to Foster and the Indian Territory Illuminating Oil Company. The plan would reduce the lands under lease from 1.5 million acres to 180,000 acres over ten years, with Indians receiving about fifty percent royalty.

Contention over Savannah River bridges at Augusta heard

Secretary Taft and Gen. Mackenzie presided at a War Department hearing on three Savannah River bridges at Augusta.
