Farmer Hurt in Wagon Runaway Near Washington
Joseph Gennett a well known farmer near Washington was thrown from a wagon when harness broke causing a runaway. He was unconscious for hours but not believed to be seriously injured. His son Will also fell and suffered bruises. Both were resting and expected to recover in days. The rig was wrecked and raspberries scattered along the street. A second horse ran away on Van Trees Street but stopped at a nearby barn with no damage.

Joseph W. W. Stewart longtime colored barber with shops on Second Street and East Main Street in Washington died after several weeks of illness at his home on East Van Treas Street. He was 67 and a prominent Odd Fellows member and A M E church figure. Survived by a wife and three children funeral set for Sunday at 2 PM at the A M E B church with burial in Hawkins Cemetery. An infant child of Mr and Mrs Russell Davis died Wednesday afternoon and was interred at St Johns Cemetery.
