Lightning Strikes Early August Storms Hit County
A severe wind and electrical storm lashed the northeastern county on Sunday, striking a barn owned by Nicholas Cages in Van Buren and stunning the two year old child of Charles L. Groves near his home. The Groves child survived with no serious injuries, while the Cages barn contained hay and grain and burned with no insurance reported. Several trees were felled along the storm path. Washington city reported no damage.

Greene County deputy escorts ex-resident to asylum
A Greene county deputy sheriff accompanied Milli gen Wilson through here today. Wilson, formerly of Elnora and now near Bloomfield, was temporarily insane last week and attempted suicide by striking his head with a stove lid. He was taken to the asylum for treatment.
