Ainsworth Student Semi Finalist in National Merit Contest

Accidents Take 4 Lives in State
Four people died in separate Iowa incidents. Garrett Wilmsteen, 61, of Grandville, died after a front collision southwest of Primg har. Gene Ehlers, 18, of Grandville, was injured in fair condition. In Des Moines Richard Olati, 25, was killed when run over by a milk truck backing from a driveway. driver Robert Cowman said he checked but failed to see anyone. Michael Liebold, 65, of Farley, was killed when knocked from a tractor in a collision with a car. Bill Gravert, about 21, of De Witt, died when a ditch collapsed on him during ditch work on a water main project. Five other workers escaped injury.

The 27 member Department Executive Committee of the Iowa American Legion will meet soon to elect a new state commander after Roy Pell, named in August, died Saturday in Chicago.
