Seek director Fran Vanderlinden has resigned from the Senior Citizen activities post in Washington. The Senior Citizen Council seeks a half time successor to handle varied duties and engage with older people. Interested individuals should contact Orville Griggs or Grace Kerr.

Two separate single car accidents near Washington left three young men injured and hospitalized by Monday. Michael A. Scott 21 Stony Scott 14 and Timothy J. McClain 17 were hurt. Michael Scott was charged with failure to stop within an assured clear distance.
Burlington residents vote on a proposed cable TV franchise amid a clash between Liberty Communications of Eugene Oregon and two local antenna firms led by Winegard Co. Officials will select Liberty if a majority backs the measure despite opposition claiming job risks.
Five Dubuque rural mail carriers pleaded guilty to delivering about 2000 telephone directories without postage for a St. Louis distributor. They were fined amounts ranging from 125 to 850 dollars, suspended from service, and ordered to reimburse postage due. Indicted earlier this month on 29 counts.
The West Des Moines City Council approved $9 million in industrial revenue bonds to finance a new suburban hospital. The 100-bed facility is expected to cost about $7 million to build, with $2 million for financing costs. Northwest Community Hospital plans to move from Des Moines to the I-235 area by 1980.
Thousands of farmers and Midwest residents filled 1,000 acres in Washington County for the Farm Progress Show. Exhibits include 434 vendors, field demonstrations across 700 acres of corn and soybeans, and entertainment by Jimmy Dean and Rex Allen. Organizers promise no admission or parking fees and anticipate up to 300,000 attendees, with NBC Today’s Jane Pauley slated to visit.
Iowa bankers heard John J. McDonnell Jr. say electronic funds transfer is inevitable despite consumer resistance. He noted lower costs than paper systems, reduced fraud risk, and that universal use will face hurdles as consumers hesitate with computers. Iowa praised as a pioneer with the only statewide system. Federal legislation may follow.

Boston Mayor Kevin White says the public shaming gallery of tax delinquents boosts payments and city revenues, despite a $4 million suit from State Sen. William Owens. Owens, suing with an injunction to remove his picture, is among officials challenging the display as it targets about $50 million in back taxes.
