Probation Ordered for Bad Checks in Washington County
A 20 year old Washington woman, Kathy Hendrickson, was sentenced by District Judge Arthur McGiver to a one year suspended jail term and placed on probation for a felony false drawing or uttering of a bank check. She must make restitution for about 800 dollars in bad checks. Other local cases include Russell Young receiving six months with three suspended and probation after release, plus restitution for stolen items, Steven Barnes with marijuana possession and Martin Schlag with a pending DUI case.

Windstorm in Iowa Kills Motorcyclist In Thunderstorm
United Press International reports a lightning strike killed 24 year old Steven J Rosenwinge of Freeport Illinois on Interstate 80 near Newton Iowa around 9 30 p m. Storms produced 41 mph winds and caused power outages and football game delays. A tornado watch was in effect and a funnel reportedly touched down near Cherokee but caused no damage.
