J B Stewart of Clinton was re-elected president of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Iowa for the seventeenth consecutive year at the annual meeting in Waterloo.
Fayette county grand jury indicts Edith Vanselow 76 of Oelwein for murder after her husband Adolph Vanselow 77 died Aug 7 from head injuries suffered the prior day. She is free on bond as the oldest person ever indicted on a murder charge in Fayette county.
In Clinton an historic session renames a plan to merge the Upper Iowa and Northwest Iowa Methodist conferences subject to approval by Northwest Iowa members. The Northwest Iowa conference will vote on the merger at its annual meeting in Webster City next week. Approval by Upper Iowa Methodists brings closer a union of all Iowa Methodists.
Sheriff says Mrs Nels Rasmussen of Louver has not been heard from since leaving for Belmond to visit relatives. A French World War I bride from 1919, she is believed to be traveling with her husband and daughter at home and a gon is in Bancroft.
Council Bluffs notes fishermen missed prime grounds south and west of Big Lake as Missouri river overflow dries sloughs. Leo Kenniston of Spirit Lake seined about a quarter million crappies bluegills gar and catfish bass and trout, transferring them to Lake Manawa.
