Charles Dewey departs this evening to begin another year of study at Oberlin College. He will be accompanied by family members and fellow students as they bid him farewell and wish him success.
Death of Rev John O Loughlin aged about 78 is announced with heartfelt tribute. The minister served more than forty five years and died September 19 near Kalona Iowa after a brief illness. He leaves a wife and several children across Iowa and Nebraska. Funeral was held in Kalona with interment in Washington Iowa.
Saturday scores show strong marks by Co. D on the range amid gusty wind. Alderman Joe Campbell reports his hunting dog lost during an evening hunt after flushing prairie chickens. officials hope the dog returns home safely.

Painters will begin the outside painting of the First UU Church in a couple of days. Workmen are down giving the fence a coat of paint as preparation.
Andrew Sinn, 67, died Saturday evening in Germanville near Brighton. He was a respected local figure, taken to his home for burial today. Jake Hite shipped a top quality horse lot from the city, adding money to merchants as buyers deliver and pay. A sample story shows Hite paying a neighbor’s feed as part of his business dealings. Mrs. J M McDonald, staying with daughter Mrs. Will Chilcote Jr, went from her daughter's home in Monmouth to visit another daughter, Mrs. Wright.
