Rural Iowa man among trio charged in Rock Island tractor thefts
Silas J. Wellington II of Lockridge Richard L. Pohren of rural Brighton and John A. Seemayer of rural Mount Pleasant were charged by the Iowa Bureau of Criminal Investigation with receiving or concealing three tractors stolen last April from the International Harvester Farmall plant in Rock Island Illinois. Wellington posted a $2000 bond while Pohren and Seemayer posted $5000 bonds each with hearings set in Mt. Pleasant.

District Court Hands Sentences in Local Larceny and Driving Cases
Daniel L. Peiffer of rural Wellman received six months in county jail with five months suspended and one year probation after pleading guilty to larceny of domestic animals. Frederick C. Peiffer faces Oct. 1 sentencing on the same charge for hog theft near Keota. Larry Laws of Washington drew 30 days suspended jail time and one year probation for driving on a suspended license. Additional defendants, Harold W. Rath and Ronald G. Wind, received deferred sentences and one year probation for OMVAS. Estele W. DeLay and Larry J. Carlin also pled guilty to OMVAS with DeLay set for Oct. 1 sentencing.
