Funeral services for Robert E. Arthur 65 will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church of Washington with Rev. J. Roland Crandall in charge. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home open for viewing today 7:30 p.m. to 10 a.m. Friday and at the church thereafter. Memorials to Lake Darling Youth Center. Arthur, a former Washington city councilman and mayor, died Tuesday in Grand Island Nebraska from a heart attack. He was born December 22 1908 in Red Oak and married Pauline O Laughlin June 30 1934. He leaves a wife two daughters a son eight grandchildren and a brother. He was active in the Republican party and held several civic roles.
