Fire Chief Max Gustafson said about 85 firemen from five departments fought a downtown blaze in Perry for nearly five hours. The inferno damaged the Perry Locker Co, Will-Do Cleaners and a storage building with an estimated 500000 dollars in losses. Evacuations occurred when toxic gas fears arose but no chemicals were released. Firefighters remained on scene overnight to prevent flare ups.
In Washington County District Court the case of Thomas Provenzano was continued indefinitely after Judge Arthur McGiverin indicated the state may be unable to reduce the charge without returning to juvenile court.
