Six Die In Iowa And Arizona Highway Crashes

Six Iowans died in crashes over the weekend with a third of the toll in a Sigourney collision that also injured several. In Arizona two Iowans were killed in a two car crash near Williams on the Grand Canyon Highway, with four others from Utah and Nebraska also noted.

Nehru Sees Kennedy Khrushchev Berlin Talks Likely

Prime Minister Nehru said he was certain Kennedy and Khrushchev would meet to discuss Germany and Berlin. He noted easing tension after talks in Moscow and Belgrade and suggested Khrushchev may seek to end nuclear testing if favorable conditions arise.

A joint meeting of the Washington Kiwanis Rotary and Y's Men’s Clubs is set for Tuesday at 6 30 in the YMCA community room. Guest speaker Leon F Montague a Rotary International past officer will discuss making retirement more fruitful for golden agers. The event is a dinner meeting for members and special guests only and not a ladies night.

Jessie Wood 42 Found Dead at Ainsworth Home

Jessie Dryden Wood 42 was found dead at her Ainsworth residence Sunday morning. The sheriff reports her son Steven found her at 9 15 am and Dr G E Montgomery ordered an autopsy at Ames laboratories to determine the death cause. Graveside services are set for Wednesday at 10 am in Ainsworth cemetery. She was born April 3, 1919 in Chicago and married Daryl Wood in Kahoka on November 2, 1941. She had lived in Ainsworth since 1946 with survivor Steven Wood and half brother John B Dryden of Copenhagen New York.

Rescue work resumes after Shannon airliner crash

Rescue operations restart at dawn on the River Shannon to recover the remaining bodies from the President Airlines DC6 crash that killed 83 aboard. Among the victims are four American crew members and two foreign born stewardesses living in the United States. A full inquiry is planned as the jetliner en route from Dusseldorf to Chicago crashed in fog and darkness.

Richland Woman Nelle Bray Dies in Local Rest Home

Mrs Coulter 77 dies in Washington County Hospital

Harriet Paisley Coulter died at 6 15 am Sept 11 at Washington County Hospital after illness. Services will be at 1 30 pm Wednesday at Manon Avenue United Presbyterian Church with burial at Elm Grove Cemetery. A memorial fund to the United Presbyterian Youth is announced.
