Gov. Robert D. Ray announced a regional crime plan giving eight regional offices power to administer federal anticrime funds, while 87 local units serve as advisors. The move aims to improve planning and hire full time field personnel, though costs may rise to over 1.2 million.

J I Case Co acquires David Brown Tractors Ltd as an operating division, with Tenneco Inc as parent. The merged group will use David Brown plants in Meltham and Leigh to produce 42 to 165 hp tractors and tillage implements, expanding Case selling power in North America and worldwide.
