Legion to Sell World War Gun for Scrap
At a Leon Beatty post meeting the Ameri ca Legion voted to dispose of the city hall cannon as scrap to aid the war effort. Fred Downing will chair the disposal committee and bids will be sought next week. Proceeds may buy war bonds or fund Red Cross USO work. The gun, built for WWI, was obtained from Rock Island arsenal and is heavily camouflaged.

Lloyd Duensing age 15 of the Jackson Boys club and Betty Stewart age 15 of the Headliner’s club topped a health improvement program for Washington county 4-H members with scores 11.5 and 11.4.
