Dog Must Die For Girl's Death
Davenport Iowa September 1 UP Blackie a large black curly haired mongrel dog was sentenced to die at noon after being blamed for the death of Dorothy Whitka 21 on August 27. He crashed into her while chasing an auto tossing her into the air and she died from a fractured skull. The dog was to be killed in a gas chamber with owner Mrs Mary Winfield agreeing with the decision and bringing the dog to the police. Police chief Phillips noted complaints about the dog chasing autos and two coroner inquest witnesses said the dog ran about 30 miles an hour.
