Wayne Jiges Lewis, a Wellman high school halfback, suffered torn ligaments in his right arm after being thrown from a car on Main street. The accident occurred when the Blumenstein vehicle bumped the Durst truck, leaving Lewis unable to play football for weeks and casting a shadow over the Armistice day game against Kalona in Wellman.
