Harvest Nears End For Iowa Soybeans In Ideal Weather
Des Moines Iowa farmers pushed soybean harvesting toward completion after a week of ideal weather. Corn progress reached normal levels at 37 percent complete, popcorn at 60 percent, grain sorghum 56 percent, and topsoil moisture shows 57 percent short and 43 percent adequate. An 88 percent soybean harvest pace outpaces 76 percent average. plowing for next spring at 21 percent. Rain aided moisture and drying capacity, with officials noting minor drying constraints as grain arrives faster than handling capacity.

Des Moines DPI reports 519 of 528 enrollees completed the state drinking drivers education course in 51 classes over three months ending Sept 30.
