Halloween Activities Planned in Washington Tuesday
Washington events start at 5 30 p m with grade school registration for a parade around the square. The parade departs the Y at 6 p m and prizes for best costumes are announced at a party in the Y gym. Junior high dance at the Y is free while high school bands contest at the fairgrounds charges 50 cents in costume 75 cents otherwise. Three bands will perform and a haunted house sponsored by the Y s Men is open to all junior high and high school students. Window painting awards to be announced after the parade.

Des Moines Blacks Rally Over Police Drug Raid
About 200 Des Moines area Blacks gathered at Robert's Lounge to push unity and urge attendance at a Tuesday closed hearing on a city drug raid in a black neighborhood. Community Action Committee leaders condemned the operation as illegal and inhuman, noting no drugs were seized though five people faced drug charges and nine were arrested for concealed weapons.

Halloween vandalism hits Washington area schools and towns
