Starr and Packers rout Cowboys in national TV rematch
Bart Starr threw four touchdowns and 260 yards as Green Bay defeated Dallas 28 17 at the Cotton Bowl. Don Meredith played with a broken nose after a mask tackle, and Dallas failed to maintain an early 10 0 lead as Green Bay tied Detroit for first in the Central Division. The key turnover came late in the fourth when Craig Baynham fumbled Dallas’s drive, setting up Starr’s fourth TD to Fowler.

LeMay warns on conservative admin if Nixon wins
Curtis LeMay told about 150 Wallace LeMay supporters in Des Moines that a conservative White House is essential on November 5 or there may be no second chance. He said Nixon's cabinet would include liberals, calling the drift toward socialism and communism dangerous. LeMay, fresh from Vietnam, added that a lull in Communist activity does not signal victory in the North. He was greeted by hecklers at the airport and then held a news conference at Hotel Kirkwood with family present.
