Gov. Thomas E. Dewey condemned President Truman as he addressed a large Chicago Stadium crowd of about 25 090. He accused Truman of mud slinging and unstable government and pledged support for rural electrification price supports and soil conservation while urging focus on labor, business and agriculture. Dewey planned a Cleveland stop as Truman advocated in Boston.

Request New Trial for Ebelsheiser in Iowa Case

Vinton School to Honor Pierce Knox
Vinton hosts a homecoming on November 2 honoring Pierce Knox a totally blind xylophonist now in the entertainment limelight. Knox appeared on Horace Heidt radio talent searches and will be joined by 15 of his Musical Knights for a concert at the Iowa School for the Blind. He attended Vinton from 1926 to 1996 and has since toured the West with Heidt. Knox and his parents have ties to Washington, Iowa, and California respectively.
