Arrested Again After Release from Prison
Fort Madison report says Lawrence Winters after release from the state penitentiary Friday created a disturbance in a cigar store drinking a beer. He disrobed pulled up his trousers and smashed a plate glass window. Assistant Police Chief Harry Yonuk chased him, nabbed him on the curb, suffering minor injuries. Winters had served time since January 1945 for desertion from Cerro Gordo county.

Seek Changes in the State's Juvenile Laws
A committee of six Iowa district judges will draft recommended changes to juvenile delinquent commitment laws on November 15 in Des Moines. The group led by Judge F. H. Cooney met again at the Polk County courthouse to discuss study phases, with members Judge T. H. Goheen Ralph Prichard Joseph E. Moyer Charles Itoe and R. Stafford. A 20 year old Merrill man Milton Trometer was killed Friday at Sloan when he was crushed between two box cars. The accident occurred during handling of freight at the yard. Authorities investigated but no additional details were released.

Eldora Escapee Back in Custody at Keokuk
Virgil Laird an 18 year old Fort Dodge Iowa youth was held in the Lee county jail awaiting return to Eldora state training school for boys. Keokuk police said Laird escaped from Eldora last Saturday and traveled via Des Moines and St Louis before hitching back to town Wednesday. He was arrested on a complaint of threatening violence in the Keokuk Trades and Labor assembly.
