Judge Par ee halted proceedings in the murder case of seven cattlemen over sheep shearer deaths. Indictments were quashed due to an illegally drawn jury, with no intent to violate law found. New informations ordered, risking further delays.

At Long Island the Vanderbilt Cup race entry closed with thirty cars entered for the contest. Truman Amerine a Marengo mail carrier in Towa City was found hanging from a cherry tree and is in serious condition after an attempted suicide. He was unconscious but resuscitated and his prognosis remains doubtful.
