United Press International reports that Iowans will turn back the clocks Sunday at 2 a.m. ending Daylight Saving Time. The switch restores standard time to gain more morning daylight and shorten evenings, a routine change occurring about every eight months to provide more work and recreation time.

DES MOINES UP IPI unemployment payments to jobless Iowans declined again in September to 10,942,619. The state’s regular unemployment insurance program paid 6,565,966 in September, down 5.5 percent from August, as six programs distributed benefits with overall declines from July through August.
