Five rural trash and garbage stations in Washington County are now installed and ready for use. Each site features two metal bins with six cubic yards capacity on concrete slabs. Residents may use the stations or haul to the Richland landfill with no gate fee.

Grass Fire Near Crescent Blacks 248 Acres
A grass and brush fire near Crescent Iowa burned 248 acres of grass timber and brush. About 50 firefighters from Crescent and Lewis Township remained on duty as wind driven flames flared Tuesday night into Wednesday. Four firefighters reported minor injuries during efforts to control the blaze.
