Garage on Chester Farm Destroyed by Fire
WESTMINSTER October 21 A one car garage on the Loren Palmer farm three miles north west of West Chester burned to the ground last evening. Palmer had gone to the shed with a lantern to draw gasoline from a tank. Gasoline and oil stored there aided the blaze. The house and other buildings were not endangered and the Farmers Mutual fire truck kept the fire from spreading.

President Harding Survives Worst North Atlantic Storm
The liner President Harding endured a 110 mph hurricane gale and 100 foot seas to reach New York port two days late. One crewman was lost overboard and 73 passengers and crew were injured as ambulances took the wounded to hospitals. Wellman Auto Accident Injures Four Residents
Mr and Mrs Charles Durian Jr and Mr and Mrs Pierre Huffman of Wellman were injured but not seriously in an auto crash near Crooked Creek Bridge on Highway 81 between West Chester and Wellman. The group had been distributing sale bills for the Durian sale when the vehicle went over a gravel embankment.

Furman Sentenced to One Year in Anamosa Reformatory
Roy Furman of Wellman received a year in the state reformatory at Anamosa for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent. Louis Glick of Iowa City drew six months in the Washington County jail for the same charge. Readily admitting the act, both men said they took A. M. Gardner’s car from Wellman and drove it to Iowa City where it was abandoned and later found burned southeast of the city.
